OUR STORY
We are a family run restaurant, created by chef and owner George Mavromoustakis, combining traditional greek flavours with some of his favourite dishes from around the world with locally available ingredients.
George’s Tavern offers a wide range of the best and freshest seafood, inspired by traditional Greek flavors. Our menu celebrates seafood from the Indian Ocean and Lake Victoria, always highlighting the best seasonal produce. Check out our latest addition, the Sushi Menu, for more.
Meat Specialities
We offer the finest meats, specializing in steaks, traditional Greek lamb dishes & perfectly grilled pork. Not sure what to choose? Our meat platter lets you sample the best that George’s has to offer. All our Meat Specialities are served with our signature Greek salad & vegetables, with a choice of rice, mashed potatoes, chips, or baked potatoes.

Tanzanian Local Menu
Sample the best dishes Tanzania has to offer right here at George’s Tavern. From our coastal chicken coconut stew to the classic Arusha dish, banana and beef stew. All Tanzanian dishes are served with kachumbari or mchicha with a choice of rice, coconut rice, ugali, chapati, chips, or grilled bananas.

Steak 10/10 Having lived in Arusha for 14 years, I finally found the best steak I have ever had here. T- Bone at The George was cooked a perfect medium rare, well seasoned and sizzling on a skillet Full of flavour, tender, and still juicy, I finished the whole 500g very easily, and I have a small apetite. Sides of corn, mixed all dente veg and salad was enough as I didn't need the fries or wedges to distract me. Seriously the BEST steak you will find in Arusha and I will be back to try their Prime Rib very soon.

Excellent Mediterranean Food My friends and I spent a few hours here during heavy rain. The food was excellent as was the service. We had starters and mains and enjoyed them all. We also ordered pizza from here to take away at a later date, which was also great.

When in Arusha, don’t miss a visit to this restaurant! Dining at this restaurant was a great experience.we were there during the day and the ambiance was special- outside tables with blue checked tablecloths in lush vegetation. We were there with 2 other couples and a guide and all of our meals were delicious. The service is also top notch

Pork chops are 🔥 Decided to take myself to dinner and eat something other than the usual available fare — BBQ chicken, chips and beef skewers. I was very pleasantly surprised! Ordered the pork chops with a side salad & veggies - it was perfection. Chops were perfectly grilled and veggies were fresh and perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend!
